Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship

Al Ain is set to become the center of global combat sports as it hosts the inaugural Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship 2025 from August 1 to 3, 2025, at the ADNEC Centre Al Ain. Organized by International Vision Sports Management (IVSM), the event is held in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT) and under the banner of Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP).

This historic championship highlights Al Ain’s growing reputation as a premier destination for world-class sporting events. The tournament will welcome hundreds of male and female athletes from over 20 countries, competing across multiple skill levels and age divisions—from youth and amateurs to masters and professionals.

“As Abu Dhabi strengthens its position as a global hub for major sporting events, combat sports have become a vital pillar of our sports and entertainment strategy,” said Saeed Al Dhaheri, Director of the Destination Management Department at DCT Abu Dhabi. “Hosting the Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship in Al Ain will further enhance the city’s global profile and introduce new audiences to this rapidly growing sport.”

The championship will follow AJP’s highest international standards, offering 2,000 ranking points and significant cash prizes for winners. Competitors from across the world will participate in age categories U14, U16, U18, 18+, and 35+, in both amateur and professional divisions.

Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager of IVSM, emphasized, “Launching the Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship in Al Ain reinforces the UAE’s leadership in combat sports. With the support of DCT Abu Dhabi, we aim to deliver a world-class event that leaves a lasting legacy for grappling in the region.”

The three-day event in Al Ain will kick off with professional bouts and semi-finals on the opening day, followed by youth and amateur competitions on the second day. The grand finale on the last day will feature thrilling finals and third-place playoffs, promising an unforgettable sporting spectacle for fans in Al Ain and across the UAE.

By hosting this international championship, Al Ain continues to strengthen its status as a vibrant sports tourism hub, attracting athletes, spectators, and global attention to the city’s growing portfolio of world-class events.
