Al Ain records showers; NCM warns of dust, clouds, and reduced visibility across UAE
Al Ain: The UAE’s unsettled summer weather intensified on Saturday as rain fell across Al Ain, with light to moderate showers reported in Al Shiklah and Um Ghaffa around 6:30 PM. Earlier in the afternoon, light rain was also observed in Owtaid, Al Dhafra, marking the onset of widespread cloud activity.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued yellow alerts for active cloud formations affecting parts of Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, warning residents to remain cautious. Overcast skies have prevailed in Abu Dhabi and Dubai throughout the day, signalling the broader impact of this weather system.
The day’s lowest temperature was recorded at a refreshing 24.5°C in Al Heben Mountain, Fujairah, early Saturday morning, according to official data from the NCM.
Forecasters confirm that the cloudy, humid, and dusty conditions are expected to persist overnight and into Sunday, with a chance of mist forming in some inland areas due to rising humidity levels. Tomorrow’s weather will bring increased cloud cover, particularly in the afternoon, along with a modest drop in temperatures over northern and coastal regions.
Winds are expected to blow from the northeast to northwest at speeds of 10–25 km/h, occasionally gusting up to 45 km/h, raising dust and sand in exposed areas and significantly reducing visibility.
Despite the showers, temperatures will remain high, with daytime highs approaching the upper 40s, maintaining typical summer heat. Motorists are strongly advised to drive with extreme caution in areas affected by blowing dust, and individuals with respiratory or dust-related allergies should take necessary precautions when outdoors.
City Al Ain urges all residents to stay updated through official forecasts and advisories, and to remain vigilant during periods of reduced visibility or shifting weather conditions.
